A3 is the size that makes sense for figure drawing, larger observational studies, or any dry-medium work where an A4 sheet feels cramped. The smooth cartridge finish stays consistent at this size, so pencil and charcoal still glide and blend the way they would on the smaller format, and the paper still tolerates heavy erasing if you're the kind of artist who reworks a drawing several times before it's finished.

Working larger also gives you more room to step back and judge proportions across a full figure or a wider still life setup, something that gets awkward on a small sheet. Because the sheets are sold loose rather than bound, it's easy to lay several out side by side during a class or workshop, or pin a favourite study straight to a wall once it's finished, without needing to tear a page out of a bound pad first.
