A3 is a natural step up once you already know which of the four Quatro tones you gravitate towards, giving figure drawing, portrait studies or classroom demonstrations enough space to develop without running out of room partway through. Having all four tones available in the same larger size means you're not stuck matching a small-format habit to a bigger sheet size later.

Larger paper also makes it easier to work from life at a comfortable scale, standing at an easel rather than hunched over a small desk, and a full A3 sheet gives room to build up layered charcoal or pastel work without constantly running out of space at the edges. Because all four tones share the same size here, mixing kraft and black studies side by side in a portfolio still looks consistent.
