One sheet that doesn't ask you to pick a single medium, mixed media paper is built to take watercolour, acrylic, pencil and pastel in the same piece.

Mixed media work sits in an awkward gap: watercolour paper can be too absorbent and textured for fine pencil work, while cartridge paper can't handle a proper wet wash. This 250gsm sheet is built specifically for that overlap, sturdy enough to take a watercolour or acrylic layer, then dry enough on the surface to add pencil, pastel or charcoal detail on top without everything smearing together.
The internal and external sizing that gives this paper its "uniform absorption" also means a wash dries a bit more evenly across the sheet than it would on plain, unsized paper, so colour doesn't pool unpredictably in a few random patches. That predictability matters most on a piece that's already combining several media, since one uneven layer can throw off everything you plan to add on top of it.
A3 gives enough space to combine several techniques across one composition, and five sheets is a sensible amount to experiment with before deciding how much of this paper a bigger project needs.
