Soft pastels are prized for how easily they blend, and this 36 shade set gives you enough range to move from soft highlights to deep shadows without constantly mixing. The wide shade spread also means fewer gaps when you are matching a reference or building up a portrait, landscape or still life, since you can move between closely related tones instead of forcing one shade to do double duty.

Camel has long been a familiar name in Indian art classrooms and home studios, and this set is sized well for both practice sketches and finished pastel artwork. The soft, chalky texture lays down colour quickly, which makes these pastels a good match for students who are still learning to control pressure and blending, as well as more experienced hobbyists who want a fast, expressive medium alongside their pencils or paints.

Store the sticks in their box between sessions to keep them from chipping, and pair them with pastel paper or a textured sheet to get the most out of the pigment. With 36 shades on hand, this set can comfortably cover a full school term or several personal art projects.
